HOW TO REALLY SAVE MONEY WHEN SHOPPING ON LINE

How to really save money when shopping on line.

When Black Friday comes along it brings with it temptation to buy items with a very attractive discount.  While I encourage buying items online to save money, it is always good to decide what you want to purchase ahead of time.  However, to make sure that your money does not disappear because of a shady vendor, here are some tips to ensure that you buy with a fantastic discount and receive the goods.

  1. Choose a reputable vendor

If you shop on line on a regular basis and you want to take advantage of the Black Friday sale then all is well.  However, how do you know that the vendor is safe?  If you don’t know the store, it may still be the best bet; you just need to take a few more precautions. Conduct your own background check by looking at sites dedicated to reviewing e-stores. If the store isn’t reviewed or does not have favorable reviews, don’t order from their website.

Some fake websites will replace a “.com” with a “.net.” Check the website carefully for these errors.  You don’t want to shop for that ‘bargain’ but never receive it and worse of all they hack your credit card.

  1. Always check the company’s shipping terms

Some merchant’s charge exorbitant shipping fees that can turn a shopping bargain into an expensive mistake.  Look to see if they provide tracking and insurance. Understand what carriers they use, and be particularly cautious if the item won’t be shipped within 10 days.

Not only check the shipping prices which can vary from vendor to vendor but also check whether they ship to Israel.  Lots of vendors do not.

3.  If the e-store asks too much information, should I comply with their wishes?

You do need to provide some method of payment, shipping address, telephone number, and email address.  Though, if the vendor starts asking you for more information, then think again about purchasing from them.  Some companies might ask questions about your interests, but these should always be optional and you should be cautious about providing the information. Check the site’s privacy policy to understand how exposed your information may become.  Only stick to the companies that respect your privacy.

4. Check the return policy

You have received the goods and found out that it is not what you want, or the item does not fit.  Check will the vendor accept the item back and what is the time frame in which you can return the item.  Also, check how much it will cost to return the item to the vendor.  It might be worth your while just to try and resell it.

5. After you have purchased online

The best way to make payment is either by using your credit card but the more popular choice is by paypal.  The most important task and tip is to make sure that you thoroughly check your credit card, paypal or bank statement that the amount debited is the amount shown on the invoice.  Also always check your statements to make sure that you have not been debited twice or that they vendor continues to debit you.

Happy Black Friday shopping.
