The summer break is in full swing and our children are enjoying their well-deserved vacation. They might be in a day camp (kaytana) or a summer camp, yet when these activities are finished they have to entertain themselves. Most children will need funding for the duration of the vacation. Here are some of the options: The child was given pocket money throughout the year and a percentage was saved for the summer vacation. If this is not your child, please start implementing the giving of an allowance on a routine basis. The child worked throughout the year or is working...
As a young girl growing up in England, one of my late father’s favourite pastimes was going on walks with his brother. He automatically included us children in his plans without offering us any option! My father started planning ahead of time: he scheduled a date, then took out the maps and guide books and he chose a walk. Next, he planned the drive to the selected location. I used to be amazed how we would drive for hours and always arrive at our destination without getting lost. The ramble inevitably had a pub in the middle where my father...
Would you like to have your money last that much longer? The average family is unaware of their financial leaks in their expenses. However, after just checking where the leaks are, these families can reduce their expenses up to 20-30%! This is without impacting their quality of life. This can be accomplished by making small changes in consumer habits. It sometimes requires some effort to locate the leaks and deal with them. However, once you have completed this task and become more aware where your money seeps out, you can spot them in the future and avoid them, or deal with them. The result...
A couple of weeks ago while walking my bike over a zebra crossing, a car ran into me, which was very inconsiderate. I was lucky that the bike took most of the impact of the car and not me, (the bike is a write-off). I remember flying and ending up on the ground, thinking to myself: “Oh no I don’t have time for this, this can’t be happening! I need to get home I have two appointments with clients this evening and one of them is a new client!” Such stupid thoughts run through your head at such inappropriate times....

We were not managing our family finances, we had not defined our financial goals and therefore we had no direction. We got totally lost in the financial jungle, even though my husband was a banker!!! This situation caused...
You may be familiar with the 5 stages of grief, compiled in 1969 by Elisabeth Kobler Ross: denial – anger – bargaining – depression – acceptance. When going through a divorce or bereavement, there is no timetable to predict how long you will be in each stage, or even in what order you will go through the stages, you may even go backwards and forwards. All we know is that you will go through each of these stages. We are told that the most traumatic experience after death is divorce. Death we do not survive, so divorce is pretty emotionally...
Welcome readers, this is my first post in the The Times of Israel blog, I hope that you enjoy the article: http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/why-we-need-to-track-expenses-in-the-time-of-stress/ I am a family financial advisor and one of my clients phoned me up and informed me that her son was badly injured in his legs in Gaza. “Thank goodness” she said “that he is alive and that they managed to save his legs, but we need to postpone our monthly meeting” and added “also during this stressful time I was unable to track my expenses”. I wished her son a speedy recovery and that I was happy...
In today’s fast-paced world, we are often forced to balance between our career, our family life and our leisure time. With the chaos of the modern world, families must make sure that they are equipped to deal with financial challenges and ensure financial stability. Many families work hard to earn a decent wage yet are forever chasing their tails. It doesn’t have to be that way!
