THERE IS A WAR ON – WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR INCOME?

🚨 When Income Drops During War – What Do You Do? 🇮🇱

I run my business and it has been affected, like so many other small businesses by the war. I am sure that right now, many families are facing something incredibly stressful…

💔 A sudden reduction in income, what is the hardest part?

👉 At the beginning of the war, it was meant to be a couple of weeks, then Pesach and now it is forecasted to end by Shavuot. We don’t know how long this situation will last. This uncertainty is exactly why we have to take control so we do not spiral into debt, however, we do not go into panic mode but carefully draw up a plan.

💡 Think of it as going on a “financial diet.” The best thing about the word diet is that it is not forever; it is for now until things stabilise and life returns to normal.

🔍 Start by understanding your 4 types of expenses:

1️⃣ Vital – Fixed

Expenses that must be paid, on time, and cannot be changed

(e.g. rent, mortgage, school fees)

2️⃣ Vital – Variable

Still essential to pay, but the amount can be adjusted

(e.g. electricity, groceries, phone plans)

3️⃣ Essential – Flexible

Important, but can be reduced or postponed

(e.g. clothing, activities, home extras)

4️⃣ Nonessential

Nice to have — but not necessary right now

(e.g. subscriptions, eating out, impulse spending)

🧠 Your focus during this time:

✔ Protect your vital expenses

✔ Reduce your variable spending

✔ Pause or cut anything nonessential

💬 This is not about deprivation.

It’s about creating breathing space and financial stability during uncertainty.

Even small changes can make a big difference.

✨ You are not alone in this, and with the right structure, you can get through this stronger.
